Lost in Stoke

This morning/afternoon my travel buddy Morgan and I went and wandered around the city of Stoke-On-Trent. and when I say wander I mean we got lost and walked around the city for hours and hours. ok maybe like an hour but it was fun to keep saying that we were lost because Morgan was convinced that we were not. The reason for this adventure was because we figured if we are going to go explore every other part of England we better explore the city right next to us. Now I am going to say this as nicely as I can. . . There is a reason that Stoke-on-Trent is not a well know place nor a tourist destination. I mean sure it is the place where pottery in England started but that is all it really has going for it.

We figured since we were there we might as well go to the potteries museum, which is strangely missed name or atleast very misleading. There is so much more there just pots and bowls and what not. My guess is it is called Potteries museum because it is in the potteries.. . they should clarify that on the brochure. The only part of the museum that I thought was cool was the 80 pieces from the Staffordshire hoard. After learning about it in class last term it was awesome to actually see it in real life and not in just a picture.
It was after the museum that we got horribly lost. Morgan wanted to go to this famous pottery store to buy her mom a birthday present. The guy in the store said it wsa a 15 minute walk from where we were. 45 minutes later we were walking along the motorway and then a random cannal in the middle of nowhere.

It actually was a very pretty canal and we werent really lost we just got sent the long way around instead of going straight to the place but we did finally make it there
and everything was freaking expensive. seriously for a tea pot it was like 75 pounds. The british are a little delusional when it comes to pottery. As we were walking to the outlet store I told Morgan that if we pass that church we are going in. I dont think she was amused. especially since all we could see of the church was the steeple and it was like 30 miles from where we were. She has yet to get my sarcasm.
After the outlet store we went back to Hanley City Center which is where we ended up wandering in circles for days because no one knew where a Tesco, Morrisons or a Sainsbury was. We finally found one after Morgan at 14 mini doughnuts and we were so close to making it back to the bus stop with out anything bad happeing (besides getting lost that is) when a tragedy happened. *moment of silence here please* Morgan dropped her jar of pickels. It was the saddest moment of her life. I think she is still trying to move on from the pain because when I posted this picture on facebook she said "you took a picture while i was rearranging all of my groceries so that I wouldnt have any more casualties!!!" I laugh.
